This is a family favorite! And it makes a good case for serving shrimp with the peels intact--flavor and messy fun. I tinkered with a version that uses no convenience products, but it seemed to be missing something. So your instincts were solid.

We made this for friends the other night and it was a really fun dinner. We did it casual beach style and just put out a big tray of the shrimp, a couple big rolls of paper towels, and some bowls for the shells. The shrimp were gone in 5 minutes, and the bread is key because the sauce is soooooooo good.

I am from New Orleans and love this recipe! We made it this weekend, and after all of the Christmas, Thanksgiving and other holiday food it really hit the spot. We had lots of friends and family around and we figured one-half pound of (head-on) shrimp per person.
