Italian Sausage and White Bean Soup with Orecchiette

October 17, 2010 by The Runaway Spoon 3 Comments

I was once invited to bring a soup to a soup potluck and I readily agreed, because I love soup and getting together with friends to eat soup is a great idea.  But I forgot that I had agreed to it, until the hostess called a day before to ask what soup I was bringing.  For reasons I cannot fathom, I blurted out “Italian Sausage and White Bean.”  I had no recipe for such a soup; … [Read more...] about Italian Sausage and White Bean Soup with Orecchiette

Clove Cookies

October 10, 2010 by The Runaway Spoon 12 Comments

You can serve it on … [Read more...] about Cinnamon Apple Salad

September 22, 2010 by The Runaway Spoon 5 Comments

This week, the farmers market was looking a little forlorn as summer moves into fall.  The tomatoes and beans are fading, but the winter squash and pumpkins aren’t quite in yet.  But I did find a nice treat at one of the stalls.  Raw peanuts.  Nice, big fat ones just waiting to be boiled up.  A big ol’ batch of goobers. Boiled Peanuts are a love-or-hate kind of thing.  They … [Read more...] about Boiled Peanuts

I'm P.C. I think I am like most people. Somewhere in the middle between food snob and food schlub. Just being in the kitchen makes me happy. I live, mostly in my kitchen, in my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.
