I have been working on a fun new project for a while now! Serves You Right: Recipes REALY for One is a weekly subscription Substack newsletter where I will be sharing my lifetime of experience as a single serve chef. And that is what I mean – recipes really for one. No repurposed leftovers, stock the freezer bulk batch cooking, no complicated meal prep plans. Just really good right-sized recipes, so you can eat well even when you are the only one at the table. It launches on April 29th, which seems appropriate because it is also my birthday! I’ll cover comfort food classics, like Endlessly Adaptable Mac and Cheese, Pop-Up Pizza and Chicken Biscuit Pot Pie. I’ll push the boat out further with fabulous food from farther afield, like Sri Lankan Cashew Curry, West Indian Maafe, Okonomiyaki, Nepalese Pork Curry and Chicken Tagine. I’ll get you started with great breakfasts and brunches, keep you going with snacks and of course cover all your meals. Start the day with a Baby Banana Bread, one Blueberry Muffin, Custard Oatmeal or Biscuits and Gravy.  And dessert – from full on formal like Earl Grey Creme Brûlée, Cookie Butter Molten Pudding and wait until you try my single serve Kladkakka. We’ll visit viral sensations like Baked Feta Pasta and Baby Basque Cheesecake. I’ll cover those recipes that are hardest to tackle – smaller servings of biscuits, cookies and cakes for solo servings. Little loaves of bread from a No Knead Loaf to Wee Soda Bread to a Template Tea Loaf, And how about some single serve cookies and brownies (from Funfetti to Skillet Chocolate Chip, Brown Butter Brownies to Paloma Bars).

Along the way, I will share my best tips for grocery shopping and food storage and kitchen tools fit for purpose. I’ll share my favorite ideas for making the most of your groceries and how to use what you have.
